“Being from New Jersey, I was a little unsure about coming all the way out to the Midwest, but I knew I made the right decision after coming to campus. There are so many resources here at UIUC for both my academic and career paths. The actuarial science program’s courses are structured to prepare you well for exams, and ASC sets up informative company presentations and trips. UIUC also has a strong network of people in actuarial science, both students in school and alumni in the industry. Because the program is so well recognized by the industry, companies set up offices right next to campus in Research Park, and I was able to have an internship experience during the school year as well as in the summer. Overall the actuarial science program is awesome and I can say I’ve found a great home here at Illinois!”

“I was inspired to study actuarial science at the University of Illinois because of multiple role models and mentors that I met during the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program in Chicago. Since joining Actuarial Science Club, I've been able to make so many connections and have been given many opportunities to grow as a person. It has taught me that putting yourself out there and asking questions is essential in this industry, and it has become much easier for me to do so since attending UIUC. One of my favorite aspects of the club is being able to learn from upperclassmen through various professional and social events, as well as helping to plan the Risks Analytics Symposium 2021 in Workshop Committee.”
